Linux Which is best for P4 2.8

which linux is best for P4 2.8 GHz is there is any driver problem with linux and can lunix and xp be installed on one hardd

Almost any; yes; and yes.

Try starting with Ubuntu.  If your hard drive isn't already partitioned, you may need either to do a full install of both OSes (after partitioning) or use something like GParted to non-destructively repartition your hard drive.  That's for advanced users though.
