computer account.
« on: December 10, 2006, 09:07:22 PM »
i tried to log onto my computer account and i typed in my password and hit enter and i got a message saying "this account may be corrupted" or something along those lines so it made me a temporary account from which i created a new administrator account but i still need to recover my desktop files from my original account.

anyone know whats going on?

Welcome to the forums.

To get prompt help you MUST give some details of your pc and what you did just prior to the error message appearing.  You MUST also post the entire error message.

I think your pc is suffering from virus/trojan attack - what protections do you have :-?

uh. pentium 4 2.0 ghz. 512mb ram. it's a Dell. thats the problem.

i have norton anti-virus 2007 and when i logged onto the new profile i had to make, i did a scan and discovered a trojan and managed to get rid of it but it didn't fix the problem and i still cannot log onto my original profile as it continues to say it may be corrupted and makes me a temporary account.

Are you using a firewall :-?

Having created a new administrator account you may not be able to login to the old one.

Browse to you desktop folder and see if your desktop files are still available..

And just to clarify, Dell is absolutely NOT the problem.  ;)
