My monitor is a vga monitor from a computer that used to run windows 3.1. to my knowlodge this monitor only works with 800 x 600 resolution and i accidentally set it to 1700 something resolution. I now can't see my monitor. how can i change the settings without being on my username?.

it windows 98 second editon. i have an intel 810 chipset. it has the correct resolution when you hit cancel at login but if you login to my name you get a buzzing monitor and a screen so messed up you can't see anything.

Boot to DOS. At the DOS prompt, type scanreg/restore. Select a date prior to the start of the problem by using the arrow keys. Press enter. After the restore, reboot.

I donot know what Operating System you use (Once again, someone fails to mention that..) , but Windows XP supports booting into VGA mode where you may be able to reset your resolution.
