Firefox new release
« on: December 20, 2006, 08:28:13 AM »
Firefox 2.0.0.1 has been released.
It's a security fix, nothing more.
Download it here.
Read the release notes here.
I'm using it, and I've had no problems.
It didn't break any of my 10 or 15 extensions.
Just thought I'd let you all know, even though you probably already know.

Nice one.
Up the Fox!
By the way, if anyone has 2.0.0.1 installed already, have they noticed anything strange?
Mine uses way more RAM than FF2.0, which used less than FF1.5, and feels far slower as well.
Is it just mine?
Or has anyone else noticed it?

I don't notice a thing, that's strange (well I have 2gb RAM), but still why would it be slower and use up way more RAM than FF2.0

Maybe it would be because of security fixes, but it is strange to see a step backwards.
I have 1Gb of RAM so the RAM usage doesn't bother me, it just feels slower for some reason.
It's probably just me.

    Unlucky.
    My theme works just fine.
Most themes and extensions are stated to be compatible with 2.0.*.
Strange that yours doesn't work . . . which theme?

      Good for you.
I use the Winestripe theme, the old 1.5 theme but for FF2.0.
      I don't like the 2.0 theme.
      No one's bothered are they?

I haven't tried any themes yet but some look interesting.  How are they uninstalled?

I found the answer here: http://www.tech-faq.com/firefox-themes.shtml.  I just installed Red Cats (blue flavor).  I think I'll keep it for awhile.
