can't open files made on apple pc

i have disc from my son with photos and can't access them on my ibm com. pc. he has an apple. i can't rename them or start a new folder. it tells me the disc structure is corrupted and unreadable. is there a simple  solution?                                                               leslie

Macs do not have compatible file types with PCs. But having only used one once i dont know how you would make a PC compatible CD.
