Win 95 install with usb cd-rom?

I am trying to install win 95 to an old laptop with floppy and usb port have an usb hp 8200 external cdrom and a win 95 on cd, boot disk aborts cdrom driver install because no cd-rom found.Have the hp driver but won't install outside of windows, is ther a usb driver that will recognize the ext. cd-rom so I can get this installed, Thanks

have you tried entering the bios  in your laptop and assign cdrom boot in there and also check for pnp devices?another way is to take out the hd from the laptop and install it on your pc as master then place boot foppy and  the cd install disc in and then either format the hdd  etc or just re-install win95..

Have tried changing the boot order in the bios, doesn't work, Also can't get that link to work in the 2nd post,from blair.      thanks
