Did you right click it and select Properties ? ?

yes I did.  right clicked the comp icon on desktop, then properties, then, in the device manager found the storage device which got me to see usb disc.  clicked properties on that and didn't see any where to make changes.  unless there's some sort of control/alt/slam keyboard I should know about.

I appreciate your help.  I'll give the ol' POS a swift kick for you.  The drag over thing soybean told me does well for what I want to do.  I had a load of pics and the single file thing was getting old.  coulda took a while for 2 gigs worth.
