30 Gig Fireball HD jumpers

Hello, I have a 30gig fireball hd, Quantum part # QMP30000AS-A
The jumpers for cls- master-slave are not working as expected.
We did get it to be reconized by fdisk and did C: 25 gig and D: the rest
Problem is that it wont boot up to dos, just a black screen and flashing _ at the top.
Dos from floppy boots ok, other hard drives, win 98 or Linux boot fine on other hard drives is ok.
C: is set active and formated with win 98.

Got me baffled, hate to scrap out the drive, planned to use it as a test drive

I assume you mean you formatted Fat32 but did you SYS C: to transfer the MS-Dos operating system :-?

Please give info on any other partitions/Operating Systems.
