    No Sound Card?
    « on: February 08, 2007, 12:30:08 PM »
Hi, I'm on a friends computer who is in the hospital and asked me if I could update it for her as she knows nothing about even the most basic spyware protection, ect...

She is on Windows XP Pro Version 2002
    3D Micro Computer IPC
    Intel Pentium III
    128 MG RAM

Having done all that I noticed that her computer has no sound, she swears up and down she did before, when looking at what she has here I'm not really sure, I'm going to post some screen shots, and that will hopefully help you guys help me figure out the problem here....
In the volume area it says no audio device....

I hope someone can help me out with this, if I cant fix it I have a feeling she will say I changed something somehow, even though adding spyware programs and downloading Windows updates wouldnt change a thing like that....

DLoad and run Everest Home on that machine...this will tell you exactly what sound device that system has.
Then using that info travel to the manuf site, DLoad the correct drivers and re-install them

            See if this helps.

So would it be the C-media thing I would now look for?

Reason we ask fullbug is Everest is a little more thorough than what the OS reports in some cases.
The wrong drivers are just as bad as no drivers.

My full apologies here... :-[ :-[
It looked from the downsized screenshot like Windows Device Manager.

The CMedia listed is the onboard sound controller. Not what we need.
Under multimedia click on the PCI/plug and pray device and report what it says.

The report it huge, so far cant find anything that says sound device, just the sound, video and game controllers, will look through it again....
