I cant get that program to install, the installation wouldnt get past the audio driver loading, and closed with an error after 20 minutes, same thing the second time, it loads but wont get to the second stage of installing....

You should always uninstall all instances of your
sound before installing a new driver.Did you do
        that?

So would I have to uninstall everything shown in the pic in reply #2 as well?
And if all this doesnt work would a system restore replace what I would remove afterword?

If you are using an add on sound card, you need to disable onboard audio in the BIOS. Is this the case?

I dont know GX, how can I find that out?
This isnt my computer, just dealing with whats in front of me....And what does BIOS mean?
I used to think I was "fairly' at computer know how, but this stuff is new to me, installing sound card and such.....
One big question I need to know though, before I touched this computer, was there a sound card in it? Or was it already fried? I need to know this.....

Maybe at this point I should just throw up my hands and say to her screw it, your computer doesnt have sound anymore, pay some ripoff guy a 100 or so and fix it yourself, I tried....
I have been at this for 2 days now and I cant seem to find anyone here who will tell me whats really going on....
