At school, the admin has blocked all students from accessing the registry and using ms-dos or the command prompt. The whole system would be locked down but for one simple thing, to run age of empires 3 it requires batch files to run (age empires is played frequently at my school. so he has blocked dos and the registry but not batch files. i have a batch file that can by-pass the block on dos and a directory to delete so i can edit the registry.

Does anyone know anything i could edit in the registry or a command i can use in dos that would make me an admin, and if so a command or registry edit that would make me back to a normal user and no longer admin

There is no such key, or command, that will make you an admin or vice versa back to a normal user.

lol school problem eh? well the solution to ur problem is the great tool
it allows u to enable registry/cmd
IF u want a faster way..just unplug frm ur school system....amillion times easier

ok so
create a shotcut
and put the file as
gpedit.msc
and well yeah just edit the settings

ONE LAST THING
you might get banned by ur "admin"

To unblock command prompt with Group Policy you need to do what lordoftheplat said,
Create a shortcut to gpedit.msc
Then open it and a window should pop up.
Double click on User Configuration
Then on Administrative Templates
Then on System
Below the folders that say User Progiles, Scripts ect... There are other things. To the right it says 'disabled' 'enabled' or 'Not configured'
You want to look for 'Prevent access to the command prompt'
Click it and go to properties and change the settings to 'disabled'
Click Accept and OK.
Now you should have the command prompt at school.

You can also unblock task manager and regedit this way.

NOTE -- This does not work on Windows XP HOME

Yeah lol, u could accidentally unplug the wrong cable and like disconnect the internet or something.

you know...all the computers in ur school is connected to a big big server and well yeah it has wiring...if u pull out the correct wire frm ur computer it would run on itz own like ur comp at home

Not necessarily, the LAN cables or Network cables could be together with other cables like internet cables and stuff. And how exactly would you know which is the right one anyways?

You guys are noobs right? If you logon through a server, the user information is stored on that server, not on that particular computer. So you can't just unplug the ethernet cord and login.

Yes, but you will not be able to change your group policy. Besides that, most of the time they completely disable regedit and the control panel.

Hmmm i have the same problem the thing is if i unplug from my schools server i can't logon at all, i figure its coz tehre is no server but thats because im not a wiz at comps but i do have a decent understanding.

and we play wc3 at my school

I was going to unplug the cable at school but when i looked behind the computer, there was only the mouse, keyboard, monitor, power and internet so i didn't try.

hey thanks man, i didn't know that unplugging the cable will disconnect you from the network, thanks for telling us these things

Lets try the pretty big cable that's screwed into the computer.....

By the way, don't unplug anything from the comp. Too risky reaching down there without anyone noticing anyways...

lol if some1 notices just say oh i was trying to fix my keyboard or mouse
or....trying to get the screen workings or....my comp doesnt turn on so i was looking where the plug was etc etc
