Lets test the the connection to the router to make sure that is not the problem.

1. Click Start > Run
2. Enter cmd and click OK
3. Type ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
(where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = the IP address for the default gateway.

Do you get 4 replies or an error such as "could not find host"?

I'm more inclined to believe it is card that needs properly configured rather than the router. You need the card configured like your roommates. The SSID, whether it is adhoc or infrastructure, WEP (if in use), the correct channel, etc.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

You might have something there, 2K.  I'm wondering if the router is even connected correctly, as he cannot even get to it using a PC connected via a CAT5e cable.  Once he gets to the router and checks the wireless settings, you should be able to help him configure the card to match them.

The Start > Run > "ping..." generated replies rather than an error message, so it's good.

As for the card, I haven't made any changes to it since moving from house 1 to house 2.  It is installed just as it was.  If the card was not working properly, would it still be picking up the signal of other routers in the area?  And if it does indeed meed to be configured, where do I begin?

    Thank you!

It has to be connected correctly if it's picking up other wireless signals, right?

I uninstalled, reinstalled the Linksys software.  It still does not find the signal for this router.

I disabled the linksys and used Microsoft's standard program and it picks up everything in the area but, as well.

      ??

I believe so.  I don't see any questions posted for me that I overlooked.

Did you get a manual on the CD that  came with it? Is this a different roommate?
