high speed

do i have to get a different dsl modem (300g dlink) for higher speed ?
or is it the gigabyte network card ?

download speed now is 1.5mps ,but will switch to up to 3mps in the summer or maybe the up to 6mps .

Certain early ADSL modems can't cope with later ADSL technologies (ADSL 2, ADSL MAX).  See if your current modem still works after the upgrade; chances are that it will.
