Vista White crash
« on: April 20, 2007, 06:05:19 PM »
When using Windows Vista Home Premium - Screen fades to a partial white colour. All applications are present but are faded to a soft white colour. Keyboard, mouse and windows is non-responsive.
Pc is an AM2 Dual core 3600 with 1.5 GB memory. This happens during any program and is not limited to certain applications.

This happens when the application(s) you are viewing have crashed.

First:
Did you install any software that Windows Vista marked as "Non-Compatible"?
Second:
Do you have any Antivirus installed? (Vista provides you Antispyware/adware)
Third:
What happened prior to this incident?

Thanks for your interest in this here are the answers to the questions you asked.

First:
Did you install any software that Windows Vista marked as "Non-Compatible"?

All applications installed are Vista compatible to my knowledge. The only one's that may have caused an error is a Hp printer software. It was said to be Vista compatible but did not work correctly. This software and the printer have been removed. Skype was also installed however I'm not entirely familiar with it's use.

Second:
Do you have any Antivirus installed? (Vista provides you Antispyware/adware)
Third:

AVG Internet Security 7.5 installed(Listed as Vista compatible)

What happened prior to this incident?

PC was without incident for three days after installation. This problem has surfaced very often. It does not seem to matter what program is being used.

Installed board has Nvidia GFX support. Any ideas if it could be a GFX related issue. Am considering installing a GFX card in the hope to resolve this issue.

Think we've found out why this has happened.
The screen fades to white when the computer is loading or processing. The computer will freeze most likely to stop too many processes overloading the system and crashing it. It will sit there in this state for quite a long time.
Had this happen when installing Adobe Reader 8... it was in this state for 15 minutes.
There is no way to stop this problem that we've found. Just another Vista problem.

Yes
(This was covered earlier)

Not a Vista problem
problems with the software

Its the same as the "End Task" window in XP
