Not really sure what i should do
« on: May 06, 2007, 01:09:48 PM »
Im having a problem with my display.  Whenever i move my mouse around or i go to certain websites i will see alot of green on the screen.  It looks kinda like 1 or 2 pixels will flicker green.  And when i play games the green is all over the place.  Im not sure if its my monitor or my video card is going out or maybe its just i need to update the driver (which i have already tried).  Just thought that maybe somebody here could help me out.

Well first I would locate the video card, buy a can of compressed air, and clean it, unless its VERY(and i mean VERY!) clean then, i dont know.

If its a CRT monitor, try degaussing it.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

This is the worst kind of thread. No information regarding what kind of monitor it even is, and then someone guessing for a solution without even know IF there is a video card or an onboard chip, which would not need cleaning.

        Oh brother.  ::) ::) ::) ::)

Even though you are a newb here, if someone has a problem it is better to not post at all unless you have some information that is helpful to their situation. If you don't know, there is no need to say "I don't know". Just don't say anything.

Some people like to post to get their count up. I hope this doesn't apply to you, but review these:

i remember hearing thogh that green blochs on a screen could be a result of video card over heating, and i thoght that cleaning it free of dust could help

Hearing something is very similar to a rumour. You can hear a lot of things that aren't true. A video chip onboard is a lot different than a video card with a fan, don't you think?

Just looking for help, the last thing that i need is for people to start bitching at me.
anyways, the reason i didnt give any info is because i wasnt sure what info was needed to help with this problem, and i figured if somebody had any ideas they would ask me for that information.

ok here is some info on my computer and video card, not sure how helpful it will be.

            nvidia geforce 7300 GS

            chip type: Geforce 7300 GS
            Dac type: integrated RAMDAC
            memory size: 512mb
            adaptor string: geforce 7300 GS

            AMD Athlilon 64 processor 3200+
            1.99 GHz, 1.50 gb ram

p.s. i only know the basics when it comes to computers, thats why i came here, for help, so any would be appreciated.

Try that monitor on another computer and another monitor on this one to see where the problem really is. (There's a free solution starter.  ;) )
