How about some info on the actual machine and the details about the video card?

Did you remove all of the nVidia drivers first? I am assuming that you have the right card for the slot available?

You need to put in the old card and remove the drivers through Add and Remove.

What is the computer or motherboard make/model? If you don't know, download and run Everest Home or Belarc Advisor.

So, the original "card" is onboard video?

No, Windows would default to SVGA with no acceleration, and the BIOS and loading screens would still be visible.

So the reason that I could not get the monitor working when I plugged the new card in, was the fact that I had not removed the old drivers.

Which SVGA socket was the monitor plugged into, the old one or the new one?

CMIFIAW but that is a video card. Are we having our plonkers pulled here?
