    « on: June 05, 2007, 06:50:28 AM »
Has anybody out there purchased registry cleaner/repair software?  If so Which of the products would you recommend, and did it work to your satisfaction?

    Thanks!

Download Ccleaner (it's free) and install without the Yahoo! Toolbar.

    It's a great little program.

In my experience, after you scanned and fixed the registry with CCleaner, scan it again and you might find some more entries that can be fixed or deleted.
CCleaner also comes with a tool that deletes cookies and temp files to make your computer run faster.

Here's a link to the download:

    It's a great little program.
    Without a doubt

Yes, I did d-load Ccleaner and ran it.   I ran the "issues" tab and came up with several items.   I backed up the all the changes prior to fixing.  Is it recommended that I back up changes each time before I select the "fix" option?

Usually always a good idea to back something up before you change it  ;)

I always backup the registry after the first Issues scan but, if I do an immediate repeat scan and CCleaner finds more items, I usually do not backup the registry before that second fix.  If I needed to restore the registry, I would just go back to the one before the first CCleaner fix.

Yeah, when I first used CCleaner, I had to scan the registry several times before it found no errors.

With my experiences of Ccleaner I see that it never repairs the registry it only removes items who doesn't belong there (anymore).
In some way that's also repairing but...
And I've never used the backup although I know it can be riscy but sow-far I never had problems with it.
I think I'm going to start with making a backup because it is indeed a bit stupid if you do not make a backup.
And I also want to say that it is indeed a very good porg.
