If you want a free OS, get LINUX.

Technically, you can use your friends Windows XP (it is possible), but by no, patio means that you aren't allowed to distribute Windows, which is what you are asking about.

(duh) The only answer you're going to get on here is that installing a copy of Windows which is licensed to another user, is a breach of Microsoft copyright.

IS this the right place to post, i am utterly lost on here.

The title of this thread is a badly chosen one, which lures the unwary to think that this is a place to post XP questions.

You should start a new thread if your question is about Microsoft Windows, but NOT if your question is asking how to commit software piracy! Do not attach your question to an existing thread.

Go here

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/board,1.0.html

and click "New Topic". Please do not just make the title "Help Please" or "I have a problem." make the title briefly describe your problem.

If your question is not about Microsoft Windows, go here

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php

and choose the forum which is most related to your problem.

Also, I am puzzled. If you are "wondering if you can use it", why don't you just try it? Why did you bother to come here at all?

I think "us guys" are understanding very well.

Just as long as the cd containing XP/SP2 is an original MS cd and not a copy , and the original cd that you have has all the hallograghic designs on it then you may use it ...provided....... it is not already installed on another pc ........ if it is, that is a no no ....... read MS EULA agreement .

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.
