No access to forum at...?
« on: June 18, 2007, 02:25:56 PM »
Polymatchmaker.com I'm wondering, I've tried registering with two seperate accounts and neither works! I see all the stuff in the left column but only log-off, home, and control panel on the top where the forums and personals are supposed to be listed... if someone who knows what they are doing would make an account and see what I need to do I'd love some help, I've been trying everything. I used Firefox, Internet Explorer, turned off all my security, installed firebug, you name it and nothing has worked. They people that own the site said if I'm registered and logged in it should show up at the top of the screen....

turned off all my security

Very bad idea.  You should never go online without protection.  I hope you have re-enabled it!  And isn't Firebug a web developer tool?  Not sure how that would help.

In any case...I registered an account on the site and although they say basic members have access to the forums, there is no forum in sight.  I also don't see any personals.  All I see are the main content, the navigational links on the left, and the Control Panel on top.  Is this the same for you?

I'll keep looking, but so far, I have found no way to access any of these features.

If you are seeing..... log-off up top, that tells me that you are logged on ....... otherwise it should say, Log-in

If you click log-off , does the message change to Log-in.
If you click log-in, are you prompted for your username and password ?
Have you checked to be sure that your machine is set to accept cookies ?
Is it possible that you must upgrade to the paid version to have access to all the features ?

    Let us know .

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.

I think I may know what the problem might be.  Weary of possible spam, I used a a fake e-mail address when signing up, so I didn't realize that validation was required.  Tonight, I logged in and changed my e-mail address to a real one and they re-sent the validation message.  I entered the appropriate code and I now have access to all of the different features.

Did you ever receive a PMM Verification e-mail?  You may want to check your spam folder.  And when logging in, make sure both cookies and javascript are enabled, or certain features won't work properly.
