Can some one give me an answer on this question?
What's so good about 4mb cache?
And what is the difference between core dou processor and a 2 core dou processor?

Thanks in advance,

Jonas ;)

For that price, you should be able to get at least 1Gb of RAM (look for 2Gb for Vista), a dual core CPU (Core 2 Duo is probably your bets bet, although Turion X2 is pretty good as well) and whatever else you want.
It's a good price range for a non-gaming laptop.
4Mb cache means more cache for the CPU, so it should be faster.  Realistically, you won't see much of a difference.
Core 2 Duo replaced Core Duo, it's faster, uses less power and supports more features, like 64-bit.
Hope this helps a little.

Sow you're saying that: Core Duo is better than Core 2 duo
The cache isn't important.
And I would need 2Gb RAM but that I already knew.
Can't some one advice me a complete notebook I've looked everywhere but I can't find one with 2 gig RAM, 2Ghz processor, 120 Gb harddisk and 256MB videocard.
The rest don't matter I guess.

You want a 256Mb video card?
I thought you said you weren't interested in gaming performance?

No I'm not but that isn't that high is it ?
I just want to look at videos and foto's without having problems and a nice result is 128MB enought for that?

Even integrated graphics is enough for that.
To run Vista smoothly, you'll want a dedicated card though, 128Mb memory minimum.
256Mb is pretty high for a laptop computer, especially if you're not going for gaming.
Just try and find a low end card that doesn't push the cost up too much, something like an X1300/1400 or 7300/7400.

The problem is that at most sites you can't choose between all graphic card and processors.
And I'm not capable of putting a notebook together myself.
Maybe I will with some help of you guys.
Do you know any site where you can put a custom notebook together?
Again thanks for helping

I don't know of one where you can get a totally custom notebook, but places like Alienware, voodooPC, Falcon-NW will let you customize each notebook quite a lot.  The downside is that they're very expensive and not good value.
I also wouldn't recommend building your own, it is possible but very hard and expensive.
I think Dell let you customize laptops quite a lot (just an example), look on each manufacturer's site and look for a "customize" button.  You might not be able to choose anything on any model, but you might find an acceptable compromise (which is unfortunately what buying a notebook is about).

I've visited Dell and I found an acceptable one the only problem is that the procesor is a bit to slow.

Dell 6400
Here is the Link this is without change because that doesn't change anything to the link but the only thing I changed is the OS to Ultimate , RAM to 2gig 577 because 677 isn't working and the screen to true life (Whats the difference?).
They say you need an other processor in order to change to 677 RAM but you can't change the processor.
The link is in dutch because I couldn't find the inspiron 6400 in the .com site. strange but its true.

That processor is perfectly fine, it's pretty powerful in itself.
But you should maybe find a better graphics card for Vista, the Intel integrated ones will probably be OK but a dedicated one would give better performance.
The difference between TrueLife and normal is that TrueLife is supposed to give better image quality.
Copied from a review on the web - "The TrueLife display (which I paid extra for) is supposed to increase colour brightness and contrast, which it does. Unfortunately the trade-off for this is a screen that is reflective enough to shave in."
Basically, it's a very glossy screen.
I have a glossy screen on my laptop, and I can say that the quality is excellent, the colours and contrast are great.
But in brightly lit areas, it is very reflective.

I had to make some changes to lower the price.
This is what I changed:
Code: [Select]
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.00GHz) 4M L2 Cache, 800Mhz Dual Core

HARD DRIVE 120GB Hard Drive, 9.5MM, 5400RPM

VIDEO CARD Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
That made a new price of $1461 But I need your oppinion:
Is that 0.20 Ghz more worth his $100?
Is that 800RPM more worth his $60?
Whats the diffence between the previous Video card and the one I have now?
I did some research and I found that they both have 256MB
But there is a difference of $130.
Maybe I would apply one of them but that is if it is worth his money.

Jonas ;)

In my opinion:

.2Ghz....not worth it.

HDD RPM's ...worth it especially in a laptop.

As to the video difference i will leave that to our Resident video experts...
