PSU Need help!!!
« on: July 31, 2007, 11:53:10 PM »
What could burn up your PSU?  My computers PSU burned up and took the mother board with it.  I got a new PSU (480w sata dual fan,  ATX power supply) and a new motherboard. I had some issues so I reinstalled Windows XP. everytihng worked fine for about 12 hours then BAM the new PSU went out but the new motherboard is fine.  I went out today and got a new PSU and a battery backup surge protector, got it all hooked up and everything was running fine for about 5 hours and then BAM the new PSU is now gone.  What could be causing this?

Hmm, I looked at it and everything seems to be plugged in where it needs to be.  When I put the new PSU in all the fans work and the system runs just fine for a few hours and then it pops the PSU.  I cant figure out what would do this, could the case cause it?

I suppose its got enough room, I dont have a stack of books on it.  I could try leaving one side of the case off.

How do you know PSU#2 and PSU#3 'popped'?
They may have just latched out due to a short or voltage fluctuation?
