Computer does not post
« on: July 26, 2007, 08:32:29 AM »
I just finished assembling my new system but I can't get it to work. When I power up the machine the fans turn but the computer does not go through POST - no beeps. I have a Biostar TF7025-M2 MoBo and the status LED indicates "VGA Error". I tried to search on Google but could not really find anything that helps me and I don't really know what to do.

Here are the specs:
Motherboard: Biostar TF7025-M2 NVIDIA GeForce 7025
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz
RAM: 2GB (2 x 1GB) G.SKILL DDR2 800 Dual Channel

That is all I have installed so far because I wanted to make sure everything works before adding the HDD, DVD drive, etc. Oh, and I am using the on-board video, no separate graphics card.

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem. I don't think it's the memory. I tried it with all two and I tried it with each memory stick individually.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well a VGA error indicates a problem with the graphics card. Are you using the on board graphics card or have you installed another one? If you have, make sure it's installed correctly.

I am using the on-board graphics - also, I used two different monitors both of which are working

Do you happen to have another graphics card you could try?

Unfortunately not - if everything else fails I might get a gfx card to see whether that works

        Okay

Then double check that the ram modules and CPU are properly installed.
Also, Have you remembered to use spacers when you installed the mobo? The back of the mobo mustn't touch metal.

Check and check. It seems the CPU is properly installed and I have swapped the RAM sticks several times but still nothing.
