Are you talking about the bios password (i.e. a password you enter when you power up the computer) or a windows password?
If it's the bios one, how old is the laptop?
If the windows one, what version of windows are you using?

When you said bios password it clicked, that is a better password then windows.
I tapped f10 key got into bios setup administrator, and win boot no one can access
my laptop now, Thanks for reminding me about bios ;)

Well glad I could help, but I find it very peculiar that the windows password just disappear.

Yes I find it very odd too. I am on the internet constantly through a router. which has it`s own firewall. I wonder if it is possible someone was watching me put in password and took it out.
but I also put in password with wireless off. I have no clue. ???

Do you have any anti virus protection installed? If so make sure its up to date and do a full scan of the computer.

You can also try to repair your system files.
To do this go to Start and select Run.
Type sfc /scannow and press enter.
You will need your XP disc.

After its done, restart and try to set a new password.

                  iceaxe.

Just be sure to copy that password and save it in an extremely secure spot as it normally takes a repair shop to do an expensive servicing should you forget or misplace it.
