IE does not recognize Macromedia Flash Player
« on: November 23, 2004, 09:53:33 AM »
About a week ago, I installed XP, SP2.  Ever since then, I have been getting a message in Internet Explorer that I need to install Macromedia Flash.  However, I already had Flash.  I've spent hours uninstalling and re-installing Flash, and consistently get the same response from IE.  I have no problem installing Macromedia Shockwave.

I installed Mozilla Firefox to see if the same problem would occur there.  Fortunately, when I use Firefox, it recognizes that I truly do have Macromedia Flash Player installed on my PC.

What do I need to do to get IE to recognize that Flash is on the PC?  (I tried to re-install IE, but the message I got was that the version I'm running is higher than what I was trying to install!).

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Stop using IE? You only need it for Windows updates.
