    psu dead?
    « on: August 18, 2007, 10:26:41 PM »
ok i have a antec high efficiency 500watt power supply unit.

My problem is when i plug it only into the motherboard the computer turns on and works fine. but if i plug anything like a cd drive or hhd it just give me a 1 sec burst so the fans spin a little then it stops. i press it again and it does same thing.i have two small chassis fans that i can plug into one of the normal plugs of my power supply, if it just them it can boot up fine.

i guess my question is what else can i try before i say it's toast?

ps- if i only got motherboard plugged in when i turn it on then plug in cd drive and hdd while it running. It will run fine although then it does not detect them so it fails to boot os.
    i run 7 different screens with 7 different towers(SYNERGY)
    1. always test the ram
    2. switch graphics cards
    3. run your virus scans
    4. mix and match parts
    5. just because it was thrown out doesn't mean it's all bad
    somethings broken/They think it's slow(Reinstall windows)

I don't have access to another psu that would work with this setup.
