network diagnostics
« on: August 26, 2007, 07:17:39 PM »
Hi All.

I am running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.  1GB of memory.  I use Wild Blue Satillette .   I ran windows network diagnostics and these are the
items that failed.

VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet ADapter-  I have uninstalled, reinstalled and
rolled back, nothing is working.

Default IP gateway = 75.105.78.1 same subnet

DHCP server = 10.235.40.14

DNSSERVERSEARCHORDER= 75.105.128.61

Is this something that I can fix myself?  or do I contact my internet provider,
or someone who repairs computers?

Thank You

    Is your machine plugged into the modem? Or do you have a firewall/Router installed? Is your machine setup with a IP address or are you using DHCP to get a IP?

    RhineFast adapters are notorious for networking fun...
    2 choices you can try:
    Re-install your original MBoard drivers to see if this clears things up. You will have to redo your network settings...
    Purchase an add-on PCI network card with brand new drivers...about $10.00 bucks...

    I suggest #2 if you have an empty PCI slot.

    I am set up with a modem with sky blue satellite.  Thank you each one for your suggestions.
