Need help with my D drive
    « on: September 08, 2007, 04:57:30 PM »
I installed Windows XP professional to my laptop, but after a week I just notice that
on my D drive instead of having all my bootable files.. I only have one folder that it call System Volume Information and my Recycle Icon...on my C drive is where I have all my bootable files, my question is how can I move all my bootable files to my D drive, since that's the drive that I created to have all my bootable files in.

    Thanks guys!

Xp by default loads on the C: drive you would be better of moving all your other files to the D: drive.  Are they 2 seperate drives or 1 drive that you have partitioned? If they are seperate drives you may be able to force xp to the D drive during a clean install.

There is no really good reason to have the OS on the D: drive...leave it on C: and use D: for storage.
As stated above no matter where you install XP or Vista Windows will still need to write certain files to C: so the most efficient setup is leaving it on C:.

Ok I will leaved the OS on drive C: And its only one Drive..... When I was installing XP I made a mistake in the partition...by giving Drive C: the space of 73.4GB and drive D: only 1.07GB, so the next question is, Its ok to  leave my two drives the way they are? because I'm saving all my stuff in drive C: and I have nothing on Drive D:

      Thanks for your help guys!!

You could change the partition after you get all of your data off drive c:, then do a clean install after formatting.
