update video card driver (or rather install one)

id like to know how to update the driver for my video card (or whatever its intel) because my monitor is stuck at 640x480. i tried the generic way and it didnt work.it has somthing to do with going to start, right clicking on on my computer then mananage. thats all i remember. thanks
