I get an error ( Explorer caused an invalid page fault
in WININET.DLL)  Going through the section on How
to fix an invalid page fault it goes on and tells you to
remove temporary program files, when you get in to
My Comp. click on C drive and Windows folder then temp folder there is a bout 3000 files plus some look
like they may be important! The instructions said to delete all.  Will this mess up my Comp?

Delete all of them (if any are "in use" they can't be deleted from "normal mode")

Also, do a Disk Cleanup. This will get rid of all other NOT important files.... To do this hit Start -> all programs -> Accessories -> System tools -> Disk Cleanup.
