Hey Fillux, sorry to leave you in the lurch but I thought Jess607 was going to answer your question.
Personally I'd stick with the stock fan, it's adequate for the cooling needs.
The only reason to buy a new cooler is if the stock cooler is rubbish (it's not) or if you're planning on overclocking (if you are, then I would recommend getting a new cooler).
      Hope this late info helps.

You'd have to be crazy to reccomend a stock fan for a Quad-Core CPU @ 2.4Ghz.

But no overclocking is even crazier. Get the Ultra 120 eXtreme and overclock to at least 3.2Ghz.

any of the  "new"  Intel chips are just fine with stock fans.... they have been tested and run for hours  with  NO  cooling/fan  period.  Personally, I like anything Zalman  ie...9500 or  the newer 9700  are  wonderful and look good too...  over clockers  need  Great cooling but don't  think you need anything special if you will not be  over clocking.

I have read the thread  and it  all  looks  good~  you will have  fun!

When its all built and completed...let me know  your  benchmarks!!   I tweaked my  e6600   duo core  and want to see how  the  quad  does .....

You already have a thread about your system, mr. muggles.
        Please keep the discussions there.
        Thanks.

If i would buy a separate cooler, then is the coolermaster hyper 212 good for my cpu, and even if i oc it?

Because the ultra 120 extreme is more expensive and you have to order the fans separetly :E
