128MB Video Memory Required...I have 256MB...
« on: November 15, 2007, 03:27:06 PM »
Hey guys. I recently picked up Europa Universalis III. I installed it to my laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505) and had no problems. I start the game up, it runs through the pre-game cinematics with no problems either. However, when it comes time for the game to start, it shuts down and a Error box pops up. It reads: "128MB of video memory is required to run this game!".  Ok, but I wouldn't think that that would be a problem. My card is an ATI Radeon X1300 (256MB).  So what exactly is going on?

I did a bit of reading on the EU3 forum and the game seems to have issues with integrated Intel graphics chipsets. If you haven't already done so, download and install the 1.1 patch from the official website and check Dell's support site for newer graphics card drivers. If it still doesn't run I think you should contact Paradox (the company behind the game) and find out whether or not a fix is underway.
But the main issue here is that your laptop was never meant for gaming and even if you get the game running it might not run very well.
