Recycling startup screens

Having a problem with a computer that all it does is keeping cycling the startup screens (one for Dell, then the Win 2000).  Computer will not do anything else.  Any suggestions?

Are you having any issues when the computer is done loading windows?

hold down the f8 key on boot and chose the last good config........have you recently installed sp2?

Last known good config did not work; still cycling.  SP2 could not be confirmed when or if.

boot to safe mode again.........stay in there...control panel/system/advanced/settings <startup and recovery>/system failure/uncheck the automatically restart feature......and scan for trojans /worms etc.....and have a look in the adim tools >>>while in the control panel............error logs.......have you added any hardware/software to the system????/
