    install a linux distro w/o cd?

    im trying to install knoppix on my pc but i screwed up my last burnable... and i live far from town... is there a way how i can take the sorce code (i know how to extract it from a *.iso so no need to explain) and put it on my secondary (20 gig) partition?

    if you need more info here it is:

    HD: 60 gigs
    Partitions: 30 gig win XP, 20 Gig no os, and 10 gig sharing. i had ubuntu earlier and never got around to geting them merged back again.

    some distros have the install online option where you can boot with a floppy or usb drive and connect to the distro website and install from there. not sure if ubuntu does it, but opensuse does.

      Have you got any O/S on this machine?

      Are you looking to compile a copy of it from the source code, and then install it?

        sid,

        i do have an os on the machine... h**l im using it. and i wish to take the iso and unpack it to, lets say desktop. i then wish to take those folders/files and make a installer that i can open/use in windows XP. i have already unzipped it and have the partitions, i just need it operational.

        EDIT: oh yes my *.iso is of knoppix

              not wikipedia but yea ive googled all diferent things and i cant seem to find it...i heard about it once thats all i know (with the floppy) but is there some way how i can... like... compile an installer like Wubi using the .iso?
