installing wireless G pci adapter

I am trying to install wireless pci adapter in my aptiva e 500, type 2158, running windows 98.
Which pci slot does it go into?  It  wont  work in either one!  Computer locks up on startup!
Please help!!

It should work in either PCI slot.

Read the below site to see what you are dealing with.
I am talking about compatability.

I'd also check the card manuf. site to make sure it's compatible with Win 98...
