I'm using Windows Vista on a HP Compaq dx2300 Microtower computer.
At first the network connections showed that my computer is connected to the local network but not the internet, & my browser didn't open any webpage.
I scanned my computer using McAfee Enterprise 8.5 and it found 22 cookies and deleted them. I then restarted my computer & found that i had access to the internet(shown under network properties). The network driver is there too. The problem is that my browser(IE) still doesn't open a webpage! What's wrong?

Can you ping something that's not on your network?

Try this: Start -> Run -> CMD -> ping www.google.com
Why is this thus?  What is the reason for this thusness?
