explorer.exe running at 99% all the time - please explain!
« on: March 08, 2008, 02:57:36 AM »
Hi, very untechnical lady here asking why my CPU usage is currently 100% even though I have run various anti virus stuff.  exporer.exe is always at 99% and the only way for the family to use the PC is to end that rocess and use the taskmanager file option to navigate to other tasks.  Every time one of us logs on explorer fires up and makes the system virtually unusable as it is so slow to repsond.  We use Outlook for our email and I understand that this is inextricably linked to explorer.  Wondered if it was possible to route outlook via ,say, Firefox, so that the explorer.exe could be deleted.  Have run and am currently running AVG scan which found 3 nasties which have gone in the vault.
