Floppy drive missing in windows 98
« on: January 21, 2005, 07:19:03 PM »
Floppy drive is missing under windows 98 regular mode.  The floppy controller is listed under device manager but no floppy drive is under "my computer".  In safe mode the floppy drive is listed and works fine.  Dos boot it works fine, just not in regular windows mode.  Any suggestions anyone?

Try reinstalling your drivers by going to the device manager, find the drive, right-click on it, and hit update drivers.... (Make sure that you are connected to the internet whe you do this)

The floppy is not listed in device manager list in regular mode.  In safe mode it is listed however no dialup is available.  I did delete it in safemode, and it only returns in safemode.

Download TweakUI (free from Microsoft)
http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp
Run TweakUI and check box under My Computer tab.
