    need help
    « on: April 04, 2008, 11:23:08 PM »
hello to all, since this forum helps someone to become more updated in terms of computer programs, i just wanted to ask some help.  everytime i save a program in my comptuer, the programs were all lost whenever i restart it.  not to mention all of my files.  i just do not know wat to do.  i need some expertise regarding this one.  i just wanted to save my programs and my personal files in a convinient way.  i even started to research about it but then i cant find the answers.  i think i need a procedure how to apply it to my computer.
great thnks! hoping to hear from your response soon.

Are these programs you are writing, or software you're installing on your computer?

        Hi Summer,

Like you.........I had a problem with losing programs and files 2. In my case, I would format the computer and NOT do anything to save Files and folders first.  I Have a thick skull,  but eventually, I learn AND What I do now is ...If I have any files or folders I don't want to lose...I Store them  in a folder with my E-Mail AND......If I format or whatever,  when im back to normal ( whatever THAT is..LOL )   I can go to the folder in my E-Mail and find my lost folder or file. Don't know if this idea will work 4 you,  but for me it works well>  EXAMPLE: I might want to save a link to  www.imlost.com   ....SO.......I would save it to the folder in my Email AND when I need it...........Its there EVEN after my Computer is formatted  :-)

          hello to all,
thanks for replying, thats a good idea.  but i think i really donot need reformatting right now.  what i need is to have a list of how to undo the icon (which i have no idea of what it is in my computer ) that causes this kind of problem.   can u have another suggestion please.  thank you so much of your time and help.

I'm not talking about reformatting, I'm talking about repairing: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm#RI

Broni is right -- if you follow the prompting and procedure carefully, it will cause Windows to use its installation disk to repair the version that's currently on your computer.

No -- I should've properly explained that it repairs the Windows installation, and leaves your other files, and applications, intact.

If done properly...the disclaimer is you may lose all your data and program files if the instructions are not followed.

I did mention that earlier, but I thank Patio -- it absolutely bears repeating.
