    Gaming PC First Build Mystery...
    « on: April 13, 2008, 06:23:24 PM »
This is my first build an it still has some mistory problems.  Sorry but its my first own made build.

    Specs:

It's a Pentium 4 Socket 478, Intel SE7210TP1-E Sever Board, DDR RAM 1 GB, SATA Drives 160 GB 320 GB, HDA Digital X Mystique 7.1 Gold, Radeon X1300

HEres my problem, some times this comes up Disk Boot Failure, Insert system disk an press enter.  I do and it restarts to my BIOS settings.  I exit it and restarts an it tries to install xp.  I remove the power cable to the harddrive and reconnect it.  Boots into xp but doesn't see the D drive at times.  Reconnect the cables to it and windows scans the drive and runs okay. Then the error starts again.

It told me that my firmware needed updating.  But after contacting Maxtor it said there isn’t any firmware updates.  So I finally got Seatools installed and ran it but it says "No HBA Has Been Detected."  These aren’t raided.  I have to run maxblast four to get this pc to work.  But when I run it, it doesn't see my mouse and the display is all differnt colors.  Which isnt seeing my drives.  I don't have another machine that will see the drives.  But the 320 replaces the 300 that was the master drive.  So what I'm able to tell know is its not the drives.  I conected an IDE and it had the same problem.  I dont think its the board or cpu as these were replaced and still the problems is there.  Sorry its so long.  No one I know has figured whats wrong with it.  I'm going to build a multi media soon an just in case this happens it would be helpful to know.

Disconnect everything execpt your boot disk and start the machine like normal and see if you still get the error.

One thing I would suggest...stop unplugging hard drives as they boot. Thats a sure way to toast them.

I don't want to be a pain but I have read several of your posts and your grammar and spelling sometimes make your posts hard, if not impossible to read.  The above sentence is gibberish.

I have seen this before from people who live in a different country because the translation from their language to ours is not easy. If this is the case, maybe you could use spell check to clear up a few of the words?

As for your problem, I don't have an answer.  You did install your motherboard drivers? A lot of people don't do this and it can cause a lot of problems.

Okay so I did the test heres what I found out the on board video shows maxblast clearly that means that something is wrong with the video card in this machine but it works in others okay, the other thing is that its still not seeing the drives.  But its a better lead then nothing.

Not sure what you mean by this, do you mean you have seven different problems with the computer? If so, I would suggest you stop building them until you know what yo are doing.

Have you tried clearing the Bios CMOS, or installing the motherboard drivers like someone told you to do. Also check the cables.

Had three differnt ones or so.  Im not building any new machines this is the same one.  I need to figure whats wrong so that I can troubleshoot it if it comes up in my next build.  I have the drivers installed but thats not going to help I dont know about the CMOS.  I had the BIOS set to its default settings but I didnt really change anything but the on board stuff.

Well get someone else to clear the CMOS if you yourself are not sure about it. I would clear the Bios CMOS, thats my advice.
