Writing to CD/DVD drive using "go to" function

Just replaced my DVD writer with a Philips DVD-RAM SPD6005T and I
can't write to CD/DVD using the Windows "go to" function. It starts the
write process and then when the wizard starts it says there is no disc in
the drive. On opening the drive the files already on the CD are displayed
OK. Under CD writing tasks I tried twice to erase the CD and, although the
computer said it was done, the files were still there. I have since found
that the option to erase the disk has disappeared completely.
I've tried using Nero and it tends to write OK on a blank disk but has
problems if something is on already (even though it's multi-session). I use
two computers and the Nero written disk (using the first computer) couldn't
be added to on my second computer using Windows "go to" function. I'm
thinking Nero and Windows written disks must be incompatible when trying to
add to the CD/DVD using the other method at a later date.
Any help, particularly with the Windows "go to" function greatly
appreciated:-))
Kind regards
EV
