    Printer issue/nothing prints
    « on: April 25, 2008, 01:39:50 PM »
My friend has a Fujitsu laptop running Vista and she has her HP Deskjet 1400 Printer selected as the default printer, and just recently she's started having a problem where nothing will happen when she tries to print, regardless of what program she's using.  She gets no error message, she hits print, and nothing happens, period.  She has tried printing a test page (by going through the printer troubleshooting screen) and it prints out the test page fine, so we know the printer is functioning.  Any suggestions?

Yes.  Check the printer driver in Control Panel.  I also suggest seeing if there's an updated driver at the Fujitsu web site.

Tried looking up the drivers, but she has the Deskjet D1420 and there is no listing on the HP site for drivers for that printer.  Could it be that HP just doesn't support it anymore?  Any other idea where I could find drivers?

Well, let me apologize for writing Fujitsu when I meant to write HP, but I'm sure you figured out what I meant.  I've been poking around the 'net, but have not found a driver so far.

Why mention the fujitsu if there are no problems.  If she googles the print maker it should take her to the main page even the make an model should get her a driver.

        HERE is your driver link.
        Uninstall old driver, first.

I saw that on the HP site, Broni -- will those drivers "drive" the 1420?  I know I'd try them if it was my printer...

Squall, I apologized because I gave (technically) wrong advice by directing someone to the Fujitsu computer site when I meant to direct them to the Hewlett-Packard site.

I see too much incorrect advice out here on the 'net with never an apology.  I feel bad that I put it up incorrectly in the first place, but I shan't join the legions of others who can't be bothered to admit an error and apologize for it.

That was the first place I went, but the d1420 isn't listed, so if she were to use one of those, which one should she use?

It's the 1400 series, but the actual model number is 1420, which is strangely not listed on the HP website.
