    Any beep codes?

When you say you get a couple of options. What options are those?

What does the screen display before the blinking cursor?

Did you set your DVD drive to be the first boot device in the bios?

Is there something on your keyboard that prevents F9 on the keyboard from working. I know i have to press another key on my keyboard before I can use the F keys.

    Double checked all connections ?
Was Thermal Paste applied (properly) ?
    New PSU or used ?
MBoard standoffs all in place ?
CPU fan hooked up to the proper connector ?
Correct type of RAM and seated properly ?

hi. the screen i get to is the initial screen w/ the energy  logo up in the corner
says phoenix bios,  blah blah, ddr dimm speed 667, blah blah, at the bottom options to press f8 to enable system config, f9 to select booting after post, del to enter setup. ive tried f8 f9 del and nothing from the f's, del does get me to the bios and i have changed dvd to boot first but i still get nothing. as for beeps i get one when i first turn the computer on and another after it finishes acknowledging the ide's, ram etc. thats it. the power supply and case are brand new,  yes all connections have been double checked the ram is correct and seated good, and as for the mobo i bought it with the processor and fan preinstalled intentionally so i wouldnt have to mess with the paste and cpu (i am a pretty unlucky guy,) i didnt want to take the chance. there is one thing i can think of, the xp cd i am using is a burned one from the net cause mine had a crack in it, and i did add a folder with a cd ripping program to the cd, maybe that folder is getting in the way of the bootable iso from loading? but then i'm not sure why it would give me just a flashing cursor? thanks guys. -props1oh1

Downloaded warez can cause problems all by themselves.

Yes if the cd is no good It will just flash like this! That's why I told you to set the first boot as Cdrom. Now the computer is booting from the cdrom and finding nothing! It could also be the cd drive itself that is faulty!!

Well i found out the source of my problems, it was a bad ide cable (brand new, but go figure.) anyway i finally got the dvd drive to boot up and load the cd, which created a new problem.  the cd takes me on some kind of trip, mentioning msdos alot and then after what could have been a russian sat test for all i understood of it, it ends with a flashing prompt, it listed i think 3 or 4 choices, i dont remember what it was, not sure it matters though, cause i never saw a mention of windows.  the thing of it is though it seems kind of foolish to run out and buy a new xp cd seeing as i have a valid key, just because microsoft is a money grubbing conglomerate.  i did check the cd on another computer, i didnt boot on it but i opened the file and it loaded the windows program before i canceled out.  any ideas of what i was seeing and what that prompt could have been, i mean i didnt see any mention of windows at all, except when i opened the file on the working computer. i searched around for awhile to find a good copy of an xp cd and there were alot of good comments as to how perfectly it worked, and it did work on the computer that was already set up, so i dont understand why it wouldnt start to set it up on the other computer.  i almost forgot, the hdd i'm trying to install on already has xp installed from another computer factory installed. any suggestions guys? thanks. -props1oh1

why was my reply disabled. i dont need help with warez if you can read, i do however need help setting up xp on my computer, where i got the cd is moot and none of your business. but thanks for being so cool...

Your topic was locked because like patio stated, we don't assist with warez/cracks/illegal copies.  We typically lock such topics.  The fact that you are using an illegal copy of XP is most likely what is causing you trouble.  What you need to do is get a legal copy of Windows.  If you still have your cracked CD, give Microsoft a call and they may be able to help you out.  In my personal experience, I have found them to be quite helpful in similar situations.
