Loosing connection.
« on: June 09, 2008, 04:12:04 AM »
Hi ,
For a couple of days my internet connection has been pathetic! I turn on my comp and my internet gets connected for a second and then connectivity is lost  again,It says 'unable to reach gateway'  or unable to reach server etc, but when I click repair button under 'support' option it connects for a second, I know I have to call my ISP home to repair this but I want to know if there is a way to do it myself.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou.

Could you paste the results of an IPCONFIG /ALL into the thread so I can get some more info?
Go to Start, Run, CMD, then type IPCONFIG /ALL.

    Thanks

It pretty shows detailed information about your internet connection.
I honestly don't know why it would be important here but, who knows.

I would try restarting your router and modem. (Unplug them for about 30 secodns)

So Queen.....remember downloading/installing anything before it happened?

    Command Prompt eh?

    Perhaps:

    Code: [Select]
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

But I would think that does the same thing as Repair. I'm not sure.

    Ivy...
IPCONFIG /ALL is basic troubleshooting tool, and there is nothing private info there.

I tried all those commands, and all it says is path not found, I have to click on repair a hundred times before I can post.
