adjusting positsion of boot devices in the bios
    « on: July 03, 2008, 04:36:23 AM »
    HI! Help please
    XP media center 2005
    I am unble to format my C drive;
    and reinstall XP media center,
    my Bios setting prevents this.
    this is what I found:
    first Boot Device Floppy
    second boot device HD
    third boot device cd rom.
there are no prompts I could follow.
I tried every thing I could think of.
but was unable to set the cd rom  as first boot.

Did you hit return on it?  Try the - + signs should move it up or down.  Depends on your BIOS did you read the screen?
Windows 7 RC Tester.  Working on it.  Your monitor says etchasketch on the side!

If I fall who is there to pick me up now.  I stand alone but I stand as the gaurdian for whom I wish to protect.  The sound of my blade utters my name as you fall.  For I shall not move.  For those that forsake the very people are wosres

                Hi Squall_01
I got this information on the first page of the BIOs.
This is not what you wanted?
I took another shot at this + - instructions.
this time it worked. But. It is disabled.
the page reads "A device enclosed in Parenthesis is has been disabled in the corresponding type.
(but all three devices are disabled)
I had the disc in the Cd rom booted twice, and
oth times the OS came up'

It's not a custome build, it's just a regular machine.
                    right off the shelf.
do you know how I can re-Enable this?

Should of thought of this before hand, when you go to exit it, does it say load defualt or something.  Should be where your asked if you want to save the changes made.

                        Yes!!
and I did agree to this,By pressing the enter key.
I thought in this case "Default" ment,
the setting would be the default setup.
do you think this is why it's disabled?
                        there has to be a way to enable this again;

??? It just sets it back to how it was when you had got it.  Any changes you made will be undone.  Taking out the cmos battery will do this too, its on the board its self an looks like the size of a quarter

                            Thanks Squall_01!
I would be afraid to open up the the case.
                            I can't do that.
I don't know how else to get this CD to run.
you have been very helpful and I thank you.

                                I'm sorry too!
the main thing is to get this disc in,
and doing what it's expected to do.
                                Thanks for your thoughts:
