I decided to use time machine the other day to back up my macbook (clever I thought), so I decided to use my external harddrive with all my previous computer videos, music and photos on, (500GB harddrive no where near full)! Then proceeded to back up my mac book! Now all backed up I decided to look for my music but now the external hard drive only displays the time machine backup. Has all my previous photos, music etc been deleted? If so is it possible to retrieve the information?
