Is the computer plugged into a ups or power strip? Connect the computer directly into a known good (try a lamp) wall outlet.

Does the computer have a power switch on the power supply? Is it on?

Can you hear anything from the inside of the computer - fans, etc? Any lights on?

Is the monitor connected to the computer and plugged directly into a known good wall outlet? Is the monitor switched 'on?' Try a different monitor, if possible.

The power supply (psu) could be bad. Try another psu - use at least the same wattage as the psu currently in your system.

        Good luck - post back.

i havent got a problem with the power or the monitor they both switch on, its when the computer starts up and you come to the first screen where it tells you what drives are in the computer and the memory none of that appears like as to say there is nothing plugged in on the motherboard but ive check all the connections and replaced cables and it wont load

Is anything recognized in the actual BIOS?  Just for the heck of it, you might want to remove the CMOS batter for about 10 minutes and then replace it and try booting up again.

re-seat the CPU and the memory.
