If you don't mind me asking, Calum, how old are you?

I'm sure it's not a new keyboard, I've been using this one (well . . . my one, I'm using a different PC right now) for a few months and it's been perfectly fine, that's not a problem.
quaxo - it's in my profile, I don't have a problem with people knowing how old I am.  I'm currently 17.  Any specific reason?

I thought it might be something age related, but I guess not  :P

It really just sounds like you're becoming a bad typist.  Ha.
That may be the case, which is what worries me . . . until recently I could type probably 60wpm with almost no errors.
Now I can type at around 20-30 with a few errors, and if I aim for my usual speed I get too many to make it worthwhile typing that fast because I waste so much time correcting the mistakes.
Have you considered getting some typing software?  It certainly couldn't hurt to take a refresher course.

I guess it couldn't hurt, not that I don't get enough practice but some more structured exercises might help.
Yesterday I thought it was getting better but I think I was wrong.

I just noticed, I can touch type. The problem is, if I ever realize that I am, I suddenly start thinking about it, and I start hitting the wrong keys. It's almost like my cerebellum knows how to change what I'm thinking into the appropriate finger movements to type it, and my cerebrum hasn't got a clue.

I've even managed to set myself to the wrong home position, which resulted in me going to qqq, fiifkw,x instead of www.google.ca

what does this have to do with the topic? Well, I've never used a typing program... but i suppose the copiuos programming I do provides plenty of practice.

So Calum's issue is that he's thinking about it too much.....

Interesting.
And probably actually true.

No, a guru.
Where's that book you were supposed to be writing oh wise one??

Interesting thought actually, I may well have been just thinking too much.
After a few days' break my typing does seem better actually . . . maybe it was stress related or something.

I wonder how much of it is being mindful of the task at hand?  (I have the same problem, and I sometimes wonder if it isn't because we're multitasking in our minds, and thinking about too many things, and worrying, and trying to do too much at once.)  I wonder if this becomes habit after a while, and we kind of sabotage ourselves?

Cal -- in no way am I being critical.
