It would help to know some specs like Ram and CPU.  Any system can run XP if you've got the umph to do it.

You should have no problem installing XP but with that CPU it will run a bit slow for you.

How do I upgrade the RAM to 512?  As you can see, I'm no computer genius. ;D

Go to a computer store (bring your laptop), and have the people who work there install more memory for you... Be sure to tell them that you ONLY want 512 MB TOTAL RAM... If will be a small fee, but it sounds like a plan to me!

Well, I called the company that I brought the laptop from and they said that I couldn't load XP to it.  But when I read the system requirements for XP, my computer has more than the required amount.   I don't want to go and buy and upgrade if I don't need it.

They can't just load it.  You'll have to buy a copy of XP or an upgrade (I'd go with the full version).

My brother is sending me the software for XP.  I was going to use that to replace windows 98se with XP.  This is what I want to do and I just want to know if my system will handle it.

It will but don't let MS find out about the disk sharing.

It's an orignal purchased Disc from microsoft.  It's not a copy.
