If you have more, then one RAM stick, try to start computer with one RAM stick at a time.
If you have one stick, test it: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic62524.html

I've already tested the RAM before we started getting te Blue Screen (when it was jut shuting down) and it didn't make any difference, should I still do it?

    You tested RAM how?
This doesn't look good. If RAM is OK, and you're getting very same error while booting from DVD, it can't be hard drive, since it's not employed, yet.
When you boot from DVD, does STOP error mention tcpip.sys?
If so, that would be really puzzling.

      Very well. We're getting somewhere.
With one RAM stick, it still didn't want to go to Normal Mode?

Well, it's a brand new ram, so could it be a bad port?

            Do you mean, slot?
Possible. Do you have another one to try?
Did you try second RAM stick in a same slot as the first working RAM?
I've seen bad RAM out of the box.

Even a brand new RAM stick can go bad...
              That's why MemTest was suggested.
It should run for about 2 hours and it's usually best to test each stick individually....
Any errors at all and it's bad.

Patio, Thanks for your suggestion re: Mem Test. We will definitely test the RAM. Any suggestions for avoiding a repeat when we buy next RAM?

Broni, I thought it was a Polish flag. I was interested just because my late Dad and his family are Polish.

                Kind regards,
