Well, in that case, I'd back up all data, and go for fresh install.
I wish, I had more advice.

    Hey man
I appreciate your help and suggestions.
You've been with me almost all day.
I was (and still am) considering Format C: but I have to find a solution of my 120G worth of files to backup.
If it wasn't for that I would have been done by now and all this discussion would have been avoided.
Just trying to work around formating.

Thanks and BTW It does work a bit faster admittedly.

Just a suggestion - add a new hard drive, install Windows on it and use your current drive as a data/program drive. If speed is your thing, get a WD Raptor for the boot drive - I boot well under a minute with AMD x2 4800+ and 2 GB of RAM with a 36 GB Raptor boot drive.

        Best of luck!

          BTW
I might be new in the forum but I am not so new in computers.
I am not PC guru or anything but I do run PC for Audio, Video and website production.
I have many and heavy prg's installed on this baby here.
So believe me when I tell you:
All the tricks in the book YES I done those.
I'm just looking for that extra thing I don't know to make the machine light fast as when I put it together.
          Thats it.

Sometimes, there is nothing wrong with the machine, but all those little bits, and pieces add up to slow things down. It's almost impossible to track all of them down, and....here we go, reinstall may be the quickest and best option.

Thanks for the suggestion about the hard drive.
            I do have a nice Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA
but I might still consider your suggestion just to skip the hastle of backing up 120G
            Thanks.

A re-install will help, for sure, and for your use another GB of RAM would probably help you...and don't forget the Raptor!

                You are very right man.
Somewhere between an empty HD and an endless list of Audio Plugins and Adobe products (all big) maybe the machine performs good after all.
                LOL
                what can I say
I wish they could talk some times you know......

I just checked that Raptor man
                  That bad boy is expensive...
The smallest I saw is 74G and goes up to $180
                  Gosh..........

                    Are you in the U.S.?

                    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010150014+50001306+1035507821&name=10000+RPM

Still expensive - but that 36 GB is all you need to run the OS and the few programs that won't install to your other drive. I originally bought two of the 36 GB to run in a RAID 0 - wasn't significantly faster than the single drive so I broke the RAID and re-installed onto just one drive. I've been running it about two years now and only have about 11 GB on it.

Well thanks to all for everything
I will take everything on account (prices, headache and the rest) and will come up with something.

                      Thanks.
